Elena Orta (b. 1995, Naples, Italy) is a photographer currently living and working in Amsterdam.
For five years she developed her vision and her perspective by doing reportage and documenting stories in Naples while studying Architecture.
She then started to focus more on creative portraits and fashion interwoven with the theme of intimacy.
This brought her to Paris in 2019 showing one photograph at the gallery Joseph Turenne, in the heart of Le marais, for the exhibition: “Ethereal: a daily poetry.”, by ImageNation Paris.
Later on, in October 2019, she moved to Amsterdam. This move changed her life completely. New visions were also generated by the encounter with communities she met and hung out with. Music, arts and critical theories are part of this transition.
Elena has been selected for FRESHEYES talent 2020 (exhibition at Westergas, Amsterdam), and in December 2020 for GUP New talent 2021 (exhibition at Kahmann Gallery, Amsterdam).
The picture “Patricia and Eduardo”, taken during the pandemic in Amsterdam 2020) has been selected as one of 30 winning single images of Portrait of Humanity 2021 by British Journal Of Photography. The winning photos were displayed at different photo festival across the world: Melbourne Photo Festival, Belfast Photo Festival, Indian Photo Festival.
As a last involvement, she showed her work with Cluster photography exhibition at Oxo tower in London, March 2022.
